A micropub owned by local Loxley brewery, with three of their cask beers taking turns on the bar. On the bar back are seven keg taps with three regulars (Dortmunder Vier, Loxley Black Dog and a South West Orchard cider). I went for the stout, not realising it was a milk stout - it is not a nitrostout, so was poured headless and slightly fizzy, which is not what we have been conditioned to expect in a stout. I also had the Cascade on hand pump, which was smooth and delightful in comparison (NBSS 3.5 or 4). Some subdued background music was playing and there were a couple of electric guitars hung on the unsmoothed wood planking on the wall (not playing).
It was quiet at 2:30 on a winter afternoon, less than a month after it opened, which is understandable. I'm not a big fan of Loxley beers, so although I wouldn't mind calling in again I'll swerve the keg stout in future.
